TIMBER NATURAL HARDWOOD FLOOR MAINTENANCE

General Advice

When you have a beautiful new hardwood floor it is very important to keep it clean. Remember, the result of people constantly walking on a dirty and dusty floor is no different to that of a high-powered sander at work! So regular maintenance is essential. A weekly sweep with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a soft floor attachment will keep your floor free from abrasive particles and a good doormat will help too. We also recommend that all furniture be fitted with felt pads. However, to keep your hardwood floor looking at its very best we strongly recommend you purchase a Treatex Floor Maintenance Kit.

Treatex® Floor Maintenance Kit

Ÿ
When your floor gets dirty wash it using Treatex®Floor Care specifically designed to clean and maintain hardwood floors finished with Treatex® Hardwax Oil without making the surface slippery.
Ÿ
Treatex® Floor Care contains Vegetable oils and Carnauba wax. This means that as the floor is cleaned a thin replenishing and protective layer of wax is also applied.
Ÿ
Treatex® Floor Care has a neutral PH value and contains no solvents. Other brands of cleaning products may contain detergents that could damage your floor.
Ÿ
For normal soiling dilute 25-50 ml of Treatex® Floor Care in 5 litres of water. Mop the surface with this solution ensuring that the mop is only damp and never wet.
Ÿ
Treatex® Floor Care can be applied using a mop or slow buffing machine with a white pad.
Ÿ
Areas of high wear can be renovated using Treatex® Refreshment Cleaner and Treatex® Wax Polish.
Ÿ
Treatex® Refreshment Cleaner is an aggressive cleaner which prepares surfaces for refinishing. Begin by diluting Treatex® Refreshment Cleaner in water at a ratio of 1:100 (50 ml to 5 litres of water). Mop the surface with this solution, ensuring that the mop is only damp and never wet, and leave to dry for approximately 3 hours.
Ÿ
Treatex® Wax Polish is a diluted version of Treatex® Hardwax Oil. Once dry, apply Treatex® Wax Polish to a small area at a time, either by wiping on a thin coat using a lint free cloth, taking care not to leave cloth marks, or by buffing using a white pad under a slow machine ensuring the surface is buffed until there are no swirl marks. Allow to dry for three to four hours.
Ÿ
For areas of very high wear a thin coat of Treatex® Hardwax Oil can be applied instead of Treatex® Wax Polish to surfaces cleaned with Treatex® Refreshment Cleaner.
Ÿ
Treatex® Floor Care and Treatex® Wax Polish are both included in our cleaning and maintenance kits alongside a lightly abrasive pad for removing stubborn stains.
